The distinctive feature of the project is the methodology it uses. It is known as "Pachamama Raymi", which allows farmers to learn from each other and participate in contests that are motivating them to improve their own situation.
The contests are organized between families and between their communities. Some go through a process of peer learning before and during the competitions. Families and villages are visited where the necessary changes have already been implemented. People will learn which changes can help them produce more and better. This will improve their economy and reduce malnutrition of their children. In addition to learning how they can increase their income, attention is also paid to house improvements and personal hygiene.

People will apply their newly acquired knowledge to their own situation. Besides, it will spread to the rest of the community. The winners of each competition are those families and communities that introduced the innovations best. They receive attractive cash prizes. However, everyone is a winner, as they are all rewarded through better results. Each contest lasts 6 months and two contests are held each year.
